Wild Is The Wind - Los Feliz

The Santa Ana winds have subsided and I was finally able to take inventory of the destruction in my neighborhood without having to dodge falling tree limbs! Wednesday evening I could hardly sleep through the noise of the surrounding palm trees whipping and whirling in the air. A portion of my bedroom is enclosed in french windows and as the sleepless night progressed I became fairly convinced  said windows were going to shatter and lodge in my head... This may sound dramatic but the curtains blew about despite the fact that the windows were locked! Some of the windows in the living room even blew open! Santa Anas are common this time of year but not usually so forceful and destructive. My friends who live on the same street to the east and west of me are still without power. I was lucky to only have had a brief interruption... Some say the winds make everyone a little cray cray. Out on my walk this morning crazy was in the air for sure - but I may have just been extra sensitive to it because I'm pretty sure you don't have to look to hard to find it most days. My bf thought he'd stepped onto the set of a Fellini film en route to dinner last night... haircuts at bus stands and Mariachis strolling down Pico... Every day is like a David Lynch screen play...

100 year old trees on Los Feliz Blvd are uprooted

... While further down the street statues are dressed for Thanksgiving (the Yarn Bomber strikes again!)
This time of year, gingerbread men and elves mingle with Tiki totems...

I have never seen so many toppled trees, so many homes and businesses without power, and so many traffic control officers (who most of seemed to be vogueing while guiding us through each intersection). Yes, reap the wild wind.

Wow, it's amazing that wind did that to those huge trees! Glad your damage was limited to a brief power outage! Thanks for your comment on my blog, hope you'll visit again soon!

Omggggg what a mess! I grew up in atlantic Canada and we'd get a lot of hurricane weather so cars being crushed by trees wasn't unusual, but those trees are MONSTERS! talk about damage!
