Spooky LA - Angelino Heights

In the spirit of Halloween's approach I went in search of spooky ghouls and ghosts in LA's second oldest neighborhood - Angelino Heights. Founded in 1886, Angelino Heights is located in the Echo Park district of the city and is known for it's Victorian architecture and steep hills.  I felt weightless in the Santa Ana winds drifting from house to house. What I discovered was some of the spookiest places weren't decorated at all...

In addition to Victorian, Angelino Heights is an eclectic neighborhood bursting with Mission and Colonial Revival, Bungalow, Craftsman and Art Deco architectural styles.

This unfortunate fellow was hanging from the eaves of the "Charmed" house

This bloated palm cast quite an ominous shadow...

I'll save the prettier pics for another post...

Would love to hear about your Halloween plans and costumes!

You are so right that some of the spookiest ones aren't even decorated at all! I love that you went out and took pics of all this!

Awesome pictures ! I love Victorian houses btw and they do fit very well in the Halloween spirit.
Here in France, Halloween is not so popular anymore, some kids still ask for treats but that's it. No special partying or anything =)

I love this idea! Especially how spooky it is when things aren't intended to be. I live in an area that dresses up and decorates a lot. So look for that in Monday's post from me. But this is far more exciting. Thanks for the comment on my blog, I look forward to reading yours here on out! Have a wonderful Halloween!

Oh wow!! You guys really go for the whole house decorating! Very spooookey! It's not such a big event here in France - that said, we have skeleton costumes and all kinds of orange food planned!

Hello !
Halloween is not so popular in France, but I saw some preps in the parisian streets... witches in the vitrines, rue Saint-Honoré for example and I think when you decide to be scared, the set does not need to be as perfect as the one you show us here (wonderful pics !!! Thanks)... juste think there's a stranger following you with some bizarre and foolish eyes or a ghost in the closet and you will ear noises, see things, hum thriller... Halloween is a state of mind :)
I'm really looking forward to see you in your costume !!!
Xoxo
