A Taste of Paris - Hollywood Bowl

(Isn't this shot reminiscent of this cake?)

What an evening I was treated to last night! A Night At The Moulin Rouge: A Magical Evening in Paris at the Hollywood Bowl was indeed magical. I can't can't get the can-can theme from Moulin Rouge out of my head head! Other thoughts spinning around in my mind: the fabulous box seats that have probably spoiled me for life; our delicieuse French meal en plein air; the spectacular white Burgundy; la conversation exploratoire et fascinant avec mon amis au yeux bleu; enjoying the concert la main dans la main; and Belle du Berry's gorgeous gown and fur collar vest. Magical indeed...

These are the Garden Boxes where we sat. They are quite handy as they come equipped with a table so you can picnic right there in the convenience of your own space! People hold season tickets for these boxes but apparently they are quite easy to come by if you purchase them through ticket agencies like Stubhub.
Okay, not my most artful tablescape but you get the idea... Cornichon, olives, figs, Pate de Campagne, Jambon de Paris, Fromage D'Affinois, Dijon mustard, baguette, and macaron which ended up a little worse for wear - all purchased at my favorite gourmet shop, Monsieur Marcel (you may remember from this post).
The LA Phil
Paris Combo - and lead singer Belle's jolie robe
Can-Can Dancers direct from Paris' Moulin Rouge
Fireworks Finale! (the last two Fridays at The Bowl have more than made up for the fact that I missed the 4th of July fireworks!)
Looks like a scene out of Apocalypse Now!
Encore!

The stunning Streamline Moderne fountain, at the entrance to the Bowl, designed by George Stanley (he was also the designer of another famous statue - the Academy Award) in 1940 depicts the muses of music, dance and drama. The fountain suffered years of neglect and decay until it was restored to it's former glory about five years ago. I never really had the opportunity to examine its beauty until last night when the hustle and bustle of traffic and pedestrians were long gone. We were the last to leave the park... One of those nights you never want to end...
