Sunday Morning Los Feliz - Brunch with Darren The Chef

I'm pretty sure I've never felt as pampered as I did this morning - certainly not in my own dining room that's for sure! Darren The Chef took the morning off from the Atwater Farmer's Market to make little old me a very sophisticated and delicious brunch. Doesn't he look cute in my oven mitts? Darren served Cheddar Souffle and Heirloom Bloody Mary's and cantaloup with honey and lime for dessert. Incredibly indulgent we were, splitting the souffle between the two of us! If souffle is a little intimidating to attempt then you must be sure to try his Bloody Mary recipe made with the freshest ingredients... it was like a garden in my mouth! It's a great excuse to imbibe and take advantage of seasonal produce! I couldn't decide which flavor I preferred - the red or the yellow tomato. I'll have to enlist a few friends for a future taste test...

Yellow Heirloom Bloody Mary's - a little tart, not as sweet as the red version. Darren really sees no need for bottled  or canned tomato juice and I think he is quite right! Fresh is incomparable...

Cheddar Souffle

Cantaloupe with Lime and Honey - simple, elegant, yummy.

I'd love to hear how you spent your weekend. I hope there was a smidgen of pampering involved!

Hey Miss Fancy Mitts! I had such a good time with you. You are such a fun person to brunch with! I hope that your niece loved the beautiful cake that you were making for her. And I hope that you took some pics of it to share with us. Next time we'll try green Bloody Marys from a pink pitcher.

Wow, you aaare so pampered!! It all looks delicious, and the idea of bloody marys with fresh tomato juice instead of canned makes me wonder... why doesn't everyone do that?! I'm glad you had such a yummy brunch.
