Looking to do something different this weekend? Stuck in a restaurant rut? Why not venture over to Downtown Culver City? In 2007 The New York Times labeled the booming Arts District, with over thirty galleries to explore, a "nascent Chelsea". There is also a wonderful mix of architecture, fantastic shopping and super-fantastic eateries!
I swear I didn't plan this! F21 jacket; Fish Fry dress; vintage clutch; Zara shoes; vintage lucite bracelet.
This street art pays homage to The Wizard of Oz which was produced at MGM here in Culver City!
How much is that deer in the window? I already have a crow and a cheetah pillow, add this guy to the mix and he expands my deer collection and creates another... I continue to straddle the line between collector and hoarder!

My date for the evening - Free People dress; Kate Spade bag; Vince Camuto booties.
A couple weeks ago my date (sister Amy) and I were wooed by chef Akasha Richmond's seasonally stylish gastric delights. Her menu proves it is possible to create comfort food with sophistication and health in mind. Add to that the fact the food is locally grown, with sustainable principles right down to the paper goods they utilize - I didn't feel the slightest guilt indulging. When Akasha herself stopped by our table we gushed and toasted her with Lavender Martinis and Yellow Watermelon libations!
Even the building and decor is constructed of recycled and reclaimed materials.
Grilled Stone Fruit, Burrata, Arugula Salad
Coffee and Chile Rubbed Flat Iron Steak: paso prime grass fed beef, corn puree, potato gnocchi.
Neiman Ranch Pork Chop: stone fruit chutney, swill chard, cheddar grits, ham hock jus.
Lavender Lemon Creme Brulee - I so enjoy ending a post on desert!
David our very enthusiastic and knowledgeable waiter said we made the best selections on the menu - but I have to say I don't think you could go wrong with any of the options... Whether or not Culver City is within reach I hope you feel inspired to make a few new discoveries of your own this weekend!

I can't imagine a better backdrop for that Fish Fry dress: it's a cute photo. And, being a denizen of NY's Chelsea neighborhood, I catch the reference.
BTW, one of my closest friends (a famous blogger with her own cosmetic line) just moved to LA. I'll be visiting her several times in the near future and learning more about your hometown while there.
